Scientific TAP® Insulation


Our newest service is the installation of  Scientific TAP® Insulation.  This insulation was conceived and developed as an entirely new method of pest protection enlisting the thermal envelope of a structure for the dual purpose of pest protection and reduced energy consumption.  Scientific TAP® Insulation is unlike any other product since it carries an EPA registration as a pesticide and is registered in all  states.  Although it is applied like an insulation product,  Scientific TAP® Insulation is regulated as a pesticide and is only available from properly licensed pest management professionals.


What is Scientific TAP® Insulation?

TAP® stands for Thermal Acoustical Pest Control Insulation. TAP® offers three sustainable solutions in one innovative product:


Thermal - Keeps home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

 Scientific TAP® Insulation FAQS

  • How is  Scientific TAP® Insulation made?

    • TAP® is made from post-consumer recycled paper and a pesticide-grade pure boric acid that is proven to control insects.  Boric acid is a low toxicity mineral salt mined from the earth and is commonly used in swimming pools, laundry detergent, and in cosmetics.  It’s nature’s pesticide!  TAP® is registered with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is acceptable to use around humans and pets. 

  • Is TAP® a fire hazard?

    • NO.  Scientific TAP® contains a fire retardant that prevents the product from burning.  Scientific TAP® meets and is tested in accordance with strict federal fire safety standards.  When a flame is introduced to the product, it forms a charred surface barrier that can help limit the spread of fire.

  • How is Scientific TAP® installed?

    • Scientific TAP® is blown in directly on top of your existing attic insulation or we can remove the existing attic insulation first using specialized equipment.  Scientific TAP® forms a perfect fit, filling nooks and crannies in your attic unlike rolled insulation that leaves gaps reducing the home’s thermal envelope.
